About Event Savvy's Founder Event Savvy was started by Khaliyah Barakhyahu in 2004. Khaliyah graduated from American University, in Washington DC, with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and minor in Special Education. She went on to teach 4th grade for the Richmond Public School system in Virginia. Throughout her life she was always planning parties for friends and family. In 2002, Khaliyah left her job to pursue Wedding Planning full time.

Since then, Khaliyah returned to school to become a Certified Bridal Consultant. She is a member of the Association of Bridal Consultants, one of the biggest associations for wedding professionals in the United States and the AFWPI. As the owner of her own company and with over 5 years of experience, her portfolio includes weddings, baby showers, network meetings, parties and bridal shows.

Currently, Khaliyah produces an annual bridal show in the Richmond, Virginia and provides Event Planning Services for individuals and businesses located in Virginia.

Angelica Harper James

Angelica Harper James is a Bridal Consultant with over 11 years experience in the event planning industry.

Angel grew up in Mechanicsville , VA and graduated from Atlee High School . She attended college at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa , OK where she majored in Business Administration and minored in Psychology.

In addition to being involved in over 100 weddings and receptions, Angel has had the privilege of planning a wide variety of events including corporate meetings, birthday and anniversary parties, crowning ceremonies, bridal and baby showers, sporting events, fundraisers and many other social activities.

Although Angel enjoys the planning process from beginning to end, her favorite part is the invitations. She believes they create the mood for the entire event. Angel’s attention to detail and creative ability help to make every event memorable.

Desiney Weaver Lowery

Desiney Weaver Lowery has a passion for creating distinctive events. Her attention to detail, style and quality, always tailors to the client's vision, is her professional trademark.

With over 10 years of experience, she has planned events for 25 to 750 guests, coordinated weddings, birthday and anniversary parties and corporate board meetings. Along the way she has acquired a keen understanding of what makes an event special: persistent attention to detail coupled with creativity, sensitivity to the needs and wishes of the client, and an insider knowledge of available venues and resources.

Desiney's education and experiences opened doors and presented opportunities in many different directions, but her love for making the ordinary memorable always leads her back to this chosen career. At Event Savvy, she focuses all her creativity and effectiveness on planning unique occasions for her clients.
